Welcome to Golden West College Baseball
The Golden West College baseball program competes in the Orange Empire Conference, which has produced six state champions since 1991. The conference is considered year in and year out to be the most competitive in California and one of the best in the nation.
Our program is run year-round beginning with our summer league, where incoming freshman can begin earning a spot on the roster for the upcoming year. During the fall, our players begin conditioning and playing a schedule of more than 30 games. During this time fundamentals of the game are stressed and worked on. We begin the regular season thefirst weekend of February and continue into May. The State playoffs begin in May and commence with the State Tournament over Memorial Day weekend. Coach Villarreal works hard to instill a winning attitude into his players both on and off of the field.
Only 5 minutes away from beautiful Huntington Beach in Southern California, we have outstanding weather that allows us to play baseball year round. This allows the collegiate and professional scouts a great opportunity to see our players throughout the year.
Coach Villarreal and his outstanding coaching staff have developed many outstanding players at GWC. Many of these players have gone on to the four-year level by earning scholarships after one or two successful years at Golden West College. Others have gone on to play professionally. GWC has had many players both play and coach at the major league level since opening in 1966.
