Technology Learning Center
The Technology Learning Center (TLC) is located inside the Golden West College Library. The TLC is divided into two rooms. All of the computers in the library offer Internet access, word processing, & printing. What kind of use is appropriate for GWC library computers?
The computers are intended for research, accessing MyGWC, word processing, and for online courses via Blackboard. If it is very crowded and other students are waiting in line to use a computer, you may be asked to log off if you are playing video games or using social networking sites, so that other students can use the computer for research and or educational purposes.

Anyone who is a registered student at Golden West College may use the computer.

What software is on the computers?
All computers are equipped with Microsoft Office & Internet Explorer.

Where do I pick up my printouts?
At the self-service station on the first floor of the library next to Honor's dept.

Can I access the databases from home since I am a registered student?
Yes. Show us your student ID card & sign up for passwords at the Reference Desk. You can also access the databases passwords via MyGWC on the student tab.

Can I run my Math program on these computers?
Yes. Access the "Run" feature under the Start menu.

I need help with operating the computer. Can you explain everything to me?
We can help you in limited ways, but we do have other responsibilities. If you never have used Microsoft Office or the Internet, we suggest taking an introductory course that will introduce you to these skills.

Make sure you are registered for the semester, and that you typed your user name & password correctly.

I left my disk, CD, or USB drive in the library, have you seen it?
Go to the Circulation desk and ask for the lost and found. It might be there.

No. When the computers are turned off, everything on the hard drive is erased?

We suggest that you limit your use to one hour, especially if there are others waiting.

I need to find a book in the library. How do I find the Library Catalog?
The homepage for all of the library computers is the GWC Library Homepage. It will be the first screen you see when you go online. On this page, you will find a link to the Library Catalog.

Can I download e-mail attachments?
Yes you can download attachments from your e-mail account.

Can I use a my ZIP disk to save my paper?
No you cannot. You can save onto a floppy disk, CD, or a USB drive.

There is a sign on a computer that states "Out of Order."
If you see an out of order sign, please do not use this computer.
