VETS Honor Cords

In recognition of your military service to the United States of America, Golden West College would like to honor your graduation by authorizing you to wear, red, white, and blue Military Honor Cords to your commencement ceremony.

Eligibility: If you are graduating and are an honorably discharged U.S. Veteran or are currently serving in the U.S. military (active duty, National Guard, or Reserves), you are authorized to wear a Military Honor Cord. Military-affiliated faculty or staff members who are participating in the commencement ceremony are welcome to receive the honor cords as well.

Distribution: Cord distribution for the 2016 commencement will begin at the Veterans End of the Year Recognition event which will take place in May 2016 (more details to come). Please join us as we recognize GWC Veterans and bestow our graduating veterans with their Military Honor Cords. After the event, cords will be available for pick up in the Veterans Enrollment Services window in the Enrollment Center from Adele Dick, GWC School Certifying Official. Adele or a member of the team will be available from 9:00am-5:00pm Monday – Thursday or 8:00am-12:00pm on Fridays. Please bring your GWC Student ID, verification that you have applied for graduation, and either a copy of your DD-214 or valid military identification card.

The last day to pick up your Military Honor Cord will be on Graduation Day before 12:00pm.

Military Honor Cords are provided to you at no cost on behalf of the GWC Veterans Task Force, and funded through the support of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) and the Student Veterans Organization (SVO).

For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Chad Bowman, Director of the VETS at 714-895-8966, or Adele Dick, School Certifying Official at 714-895-8140.
